33 Weeks

Time is flying by too quickly this summer!  We're only about a week in to "actual" summer, but it is crazy how we are so busy that I can't even write blog posts in a timely manner!  I love putting Gabriel in overalls, but I have to laugh because the length is usually good but he looks so chubby around the middle because the fabric is so large around his skinny belly!
  • We met up with the Sawyer family for a BBQ at Green Hill Park.  Richard is even cuter than the last time we saw him a few months ago!  Gabe & Richard played very well together (they are only a few weeks apart in age).  They even shared their toys!  It was nice to get out in the sunshine and commiserate talk with other first-time parents.

Just two friends tasting each other's toys, haha!

  • Baby led weaning continues!

Pumpkin pie yogurt

Roasted radishes
  • Nonno bought Gabe a new toy - the Munchkin Musical Mozart Cube.  (Something about introducing kids to classical music at a young age...)  Gabe really liked it!

  • We finally completed 99% of the construction fixes on the house.  It's like the whole first floor is brand new (again), though this is the first time we were able to renovate the living room.  I am happy that I have my kitchen almost back to normal (a small pile of tools still christens our kitchen island...) and excited that we are planning to upgrade to a new sectional sofa for the living room.  We are foregoing a coffee table so that the floor space can be used by the worm for sitting and crawling and whatnot.  I'm excited to see the new look complete in the next few weeks (and promise to post a picture or two!).
  • Sometimes I forget that Gabriel is actually growing.  I forget that certain toys are now age-appropriate; I forget that since he can sit up pretty well, he can sit in the front of the shopping cart.  Things like that.  Speaking of shopping carts, I am now "that" mother - I bought a shopping cart cover to keep him away from other people's dirty hand germs.  (It's nice that it covers where MY hands go too, haha!)

Boy, Oh Boy!

This week started out with a play date an invitation to one of those home product parties.  Gabe's Godfather Andre's cousin Annette hosted an Ava Anderson party on Sunday.  (For those that don't know, Ava Anderson is a line of totally non-toxic products.  I highly recommend the body butter and sugar scrub; they smell amazing!)  Annette has a 4mo old daughter, Emma, and Gabe's Godmother Chelsea was there with 2.5mo old Hudson.  Well, we had to take advantage of the nice day and get outside with the kids for a makeshift play date (after the consultation part was over).  The babies were so cute together; I think Gabe may have found a potential girlfriend!  Here are a few of the pics Chelsea snagged:

Hudson was trying so hard to lift his head!

Flirting!

Whispering sweet nothings...
Here's our usual weekly photo - 32 weeks already!

  • Baby led weaning continues successfully with several new foods (among others not pictured here):
Blueberries in a silicone feeder

Spaghetti with sauce - oh what a mess that was!!

Red peppers

Kiwi in a mesh feeder - he's not a fan of the mesh feeders, we learned

Homemade spicy quinoa cakes

Loved pancakes!

Roasted asparagus

PIEROGI!  He figured out how to suck out the potato & cheese filling

Prunes, because - you know - they keep you regular.

Fresh mango

Spaghetti with peas, scallops, and a homemade buttery garlic sauce

Blueberry yogurt face

"I prefer my kiwi not covered in mesh, thank you."

If you try to get near my Polish kielbasa, I will break out my Italian mafioso side!

Enjoying HOT sausage
  • We had a visit from cousins Daniel & Hailey this week.  Hailey had to check out Gabriel's exersaucer toy - the thing sure is noisy!  (But he LOVES it; thank you Gina & Emma!)

  • My niece Justine made a beautiful cover for my Beco Gemini baby carrier.  It folds right up inside & closes with velcro.  I am impressed at what she can do just based on a simple picture example!  (The sewing skills of my grandmother and father were definitely not passed down anywhere near me, unfortunately!)

  • On Friday, we watched baby Hudson while his older brother Wyatt had a doctor's appointment.  He was all smiles for me (well, until his 6th sense realized that his mother was on her way back to get him a few hours later!).  Grammy came to hang out with Gabe at the same time, so having two babies wasn't too difficult!  (Thanks to Craig for handling a lot of baby juggling, too!)
Smiling Hudson

Grammy is great at getting Gabe to nap!
