Happy 17 Weeks!

17 Weeks Pregnant
I can't believe we're already 17 weeks in!  That's only 23 weeks left!  Good thing the baby's room is done (sans furniture) and the closet is finished (received the cool green bins for the cubby unit yesterday).  Now I'm itching for more - unfortunately, I have to wait for the baby showers in a little less than 3 months.  (If I let myself, I'd want to buy everything on the registries now!)

Looks like I'm getting the slightest baby bump now.  Pants are tight, so I'm trying to cover everything in empire-waist tops while at work.  It's just easier to get through the next two weeks without giving it away.  (And it'll be kind of fun going back in August with a HUGE 7 month big belly - I plan to say "Well, I ate a watermelon seed over the summer, and...")

What you can't see in my weekly picture (thankfully!) are the four HUGE zits that suddenly appeared this week.  Ugh!  I have never really had bad skin, maybe just a single pimple every other month or so.  These are so glaringly yelling "HELLO!" that I can't stand it.  Here's to hoping it was just something I ate and that it's a passing phase.  Other than that, and being out of breath after climbing stairs, I feel fantastic.  Well, except for the "cankles" (aka severely swollen ankles) that suddenly arrived the day before yesterday...

I don't believe I'm feeling the baby move yet, but last night I felt some strange whispering-like feelings.  So we'll see.  Supposedly you can feel a baby's first movements between 16-22 weeks.  My mother says she never felt my brother or I until 8 1/2 months!  I hope I get to feel my baby move sooner than that!

This week, baby is the size of our Galaxy Note III phones (just over 5 inches).  I texted that tidbit to Craig yesterday, and we both laughed.  S/he is about the size of a large onion (not a glamorous vegetable, so you won't be seeing a picture of one on this blog!) and has developed hearing & sensitivity to light.  S/he's also busy making unique fingerprints!

Our next ultrasound & doctor's appointment are next week.  We're excited and, no, not because we're finding out the baby's sex!  Sorry all of you who were looking forward to that bit of information, including Craig (though I think I've swayed him a little...).  We all will just have to wait until this baby arrives in October!
